Randwick Personal Trainer-A few weeks ago I was approached by Women’s Day Magazine, and asked for a personal trainers opinion on Melissa McCarthy’s incredible weight loss.

Even though I’m not a fan of her, or to be honest I have never watched any of her movies or TV show’s. I do like giving credit when credit is due.

Here’s a little bit of trivia she has done over 20 odd movies, as well and 11- 12 television shows, and a career lasting just under 20 years! Well there you go!

Anyway, I think Melissa McCarthy has done a really good job. Losing approximately 30 kg takes a lot commitment. As a qualified nutritionist this amount of weight is a really realistic amount to lose in the time in question. I tell my clients to aim to lose about 0.5kg per week, losing body fat; toning up and feeling healthier should be a life change and not a short-term goal. I really feel Melissa McCarthy has changed her eating patterns for the better.

Sydney based personal trainer Zak Sztor, who estimates Melissa has lost about 30kg, says her approach is admirable.

“Not only has she lost weight, shoe looks a lot healthier and more confident in her appearance” Zak tells Women’s Day “it’s good to see a realistic amount of weight loss over a realistic amount of time to give people good roles models and achievable goals.”

  • Drink more water
  • Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Exercise a minimum of 180 minutes per week
  • Socialize with family or friends
